About Blue Bluff Campground (Aberdeen Ms)

Overview

Blue Bluff Campground and Recreation Area, on the Aberdeen Lake section of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in Mississippi, is one of the most scenic recreation areas on the waterway.

The area is located just north of Aberdeen and boasts both a campground and day-use area. Thousands of outdoor enthusiasts visit the area each year for picnicking, fishing and swimming.

Recreation

Families can swim at the facility's beach, play on the multi-use court and walk along the wooded waterfront.

Anglers can try their luck on the accessible fishing dock or go off-shore in search of bass, walleye, crappie, catfish and sunfish.

Additionally, hunters can seek out a diverse range of high quality habitats for upland game and waterfowl species at designated hunting areas along the waterway.

Facilities

The campground offers 92 campsites with electric and water hookups, picnic tables, fire rings with grills, pedestal grills and lantern posts, making it perfect for parties and family functions.

The facility is mostly shaded and has many scenic views of the waterway. Picnic areas and a beach are nearby.

Natural Features

Blue Bluff is named for the beautiful clay and limestone cliffs that border the park on the eastern side. The bluff rises 80 feet above the water and provides a lofty view of Aberdeen Lake and the nearby lock and dam.

The waterway extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama and connects the nation's midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico.

Nearby Attractions

A tour can be schedule at the Aberdeen Lock and Dam next door, which provides an opportunity to watch barges and other recreational boats go through the lock on the waterway. The town of Aberdeen, just from minutes from the campground, has various amenities, tours and events.

Tupelo, Mississippi, known as the birthplace of Elvis Presley, is a 45-minute drive north.

This is a year-round facility

Reservations cannot be made at the campground gate house.

Gates are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; there is an emergency exit for campers

•LOCAL CAMPING POLICIES
•A limit of 8 people per site.
•The America The Beautiful Senior and Access cards are accepted at this campground for discount camping. When making a reservation only one card can be used on one reservation. If multiple reservations are made with one card one reservation will receive the discount and the others will have to pay the full price upon check-in.
•A camping extension is no more than 14 additional camping days beyond a camper’s initial 14 day camping limit. For each camping extension granted, a camping party cannot exceed 14 days per extension and can only pay for 14 days at a time.
•Peak Season Extension Policy: Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Campgrounds. After the initial 14 day stay one extension is allowed on a non-prime site for a total of 28 days during peak season (March 1- Sept. 15). At the end of this 28 day stay the camper and equipment must move to another campground on the project but may return to the campground after 7 days. If camping on a prime site the camper must move to a non-prime site after the initial 14 day stay.
•Off Season Extension Policy: Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Campgrounds. After the initial 14 day stay no more than one extension will be allowed on a non-prime site for a total of 28 days during the off season (Sept.13 -Feb. 28). At the end of this 28 day stay the camper and equipment must move to another campground on the project but may return to the campground after 7 days. Length of stay on a prime site during the off season remains limited to 14 days. A camper may stay on a prime site 14 days, and move to a non-prime site for 14 days.
•Extensions beyond the 14 day limit will not be granted during major summer holidays.
•First Come First Serve Policy: When a site becomes available for rental a walk-in customer must be at the park and first at the window to pay for a campsite.
•Please turn in all passes to the park attendant when leaving the campground.
•Only empty boat trailers are allowed to be parked on grass.
