The John W. Flannagan Dam & Reservoir Area boasts an expansive lake nestled in the rolling green Cumberland Mountains of southwest Virginia, offering visitors an oasis of recreation in the summer months. The nearby dam, built primarily for flood control for the Cranesnest and Pound Rivers, creates a breathtaking lake that is maintained at nearly 1,400 feet above sea level. This facility is an ideal spot for picnicking, water activities and hiking.

- •No more than 2 vehicles per site. All other visitors must park in the overflow parking areas. This follows the Federal Regulation Title 36.
- •All checks must be made to Recreation One Stop and or R1S
- •No parking allowed in the grass
- •No person(s) may camp at one or more campsites for than 14 days in a 30 day consecutive period at Pound River Campground. This includes the reservation holder (primary occupant) and all other overnight occupants.
- •Any person utilizing a Federal Pass for a discount on camping fees must present the discount pass upon request, be registered on teh campstie, and occupt the site overnight for the entire duration of the reservation to receive the full discount.
- •You may only be registered as the primary occupant at one campsite upon departure.
- •All trash and debris must be completely removed from the campsite upon departure.
- •All motorized recreational vehicles, including motorcycles, all-terrian vehicles (ATV), utility terrian vehicles (UTV), mopeds, scooters, golf carts, hoverboards, etc., that are not licensed for use on all roadways are prohibited in the campgrounds.
- •Please contact tthe campground/ lake office at (276)-835-9544 for questions on power driven mobility aids.
- •The primary occupant is responsible for the adherence to the campging rules and regulations by all other occupants, guests, and visitors on the campsite.
