About Deer Creek Cabin (Wy) Campground
Overview
Deer Creek Cabin is a historic Forest Service guard station located 13 miles from Alpine, Wyoming. The quaint, rustic structure offers a backcountry experience with conveniences like a propane stove and a heater. The cabin compound is a free graze area for Forest Service horses to roam during the summer months.
Winter access is by snowmobile only on a groomed trail.
Recreation
Greys River flows just across the road from the cabin, offering prime fishing opportunities. Hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-road vehicle trails begin nearby.
Facilities
The two-room cabin sleeps six guests. Propane heating and lights are provided. Indoor plumbing is available during the summer months only, from around mid-June through Labor Day weekend. A vault toilet is available next to the cabin for colder months. A picnic table and campfire ring sit next to the cabin.
A flush toilet, shower, and sink with drinking water are offered inside the cabin from approximately mid-June to Labor Day. Furnishings include a sink, propane cooktop, propane refrigerator, a table and chairs and three bunkbeds with mattresses. A wood stove and a propane heater are both available.
Cooking and eating utensils are not provided. Recommended items to bring include bedding, dishes, pots and pans, utensils, garbage bags, dish soap, dish towels, toilet paper, a flashlight and cleaning products such as bleach or disinfectant.
Natural Features
Lodgepole pine trees cover the complex, offering partial shade. Scenic views of the Bridger-Teton National Forest abound.

The closest town for groceries is in Alpine, just 13 miles away.

This facility is experiencing a TEMPORARY WATER OUTAGE and intermittent construction on site. Please bring all the water you’ll need for your visit, including drinking water. Due to this the internal Bathroom facilities are also not accessible. There is however a pump toilet available directly adjacent to the building.
4-7 days prior to your reservation you will receive an e-mail with your cabin code, condition report and a rules and regulations page. Please read through the rules and regulations page carefully. Fill out and return the completed condition report to the Greys River Ranger District following your stay. If you have any questions please contact the District Office at any time Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM (excluding weekends and Federal Holidays) at 671 N. Washington, Afton, WY 83110 or by phone at (307)886-5300. Check in time is 2 pm, check out time is 11 am.

You are responsible for cleaning the cabin, please leave it at least as clean as you found it or better. No smoking within the cabins is permitted.
This site cannot accommodate any additional RV’s or Trailers due to the capacity of the septic system.

Off-road vehicles are allowed on designated trails only. A Wyoming ORV or snowmobile permit is required for each vehicle. The permits and free Motor Vehicle Use Maps are available online, the District Office or Alpine Visitor Center in Alpine.
Beware of poisonous chemicals used to control rodent population
Forest Service horses may be in the pasture (typically throughout June). Do not feed Forest Service horses, and watch young children if horses are nearby. The cabin is surrounded by the pasture without any separation, so loose horses may get into anything left outside, including garbage or vehicles. You may choose to unpack your vehicle at the cabin but then park it outside the gate. Public use stock corral is available at the back of the station, water access: Deer Creek runs east of the cabin, bring your own water bucket. Hay brought onto the Forest must be certified weed-free. Please remove any unused hay when you leave the cabin.
Out of state horses must have a current Coggins test.
Bears frequent the area; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle, making sure to leave nothing exposed.
Firewood at this location is for use at this cabin only.
