What to bring on Month Ahead

Specific to this permit, not a generic camping list.

  • Bring

    Map and compass

because trails are unmarked and braided

  • Bring

Water filter or treatment for the river and side creeks

  • Bring

Trowel for cat holes six to eight inches deep, 200 feet from water

  • Bring

    Headlamp

since the gorge goes dark early under the rims

  • Bring

Long pants for rhododendron and greenbrier

  • Bring

Camp shoes for the river crossings

  • Bring

    A satellite messenger

because there is no coverage to call from

10 people can go on one permit. Split this list between them so nobody carries two stoves.
